ACtions instructions

Welcome

Welcome!

ThoughtCast Actions are a suite of integrations used across all of the ThoughtCast apps that allow any app that gathers data (ThoughtCast, OmniSense, Calculon, etc) to take that data and send it to a corresponding service. This can be other apps, magic hardware devices, and more.

If you ever need a handy guide to what each Action does, in all of the ThoughtCast brand apps there is a toolkit for each Action in the settings. Either tap once or tap and hold (in each app it will specify) to view the information about each Action.

In this guide we will talk about Actions in terms of what they do in the most generic way possible, so when we refer to "actionable text", it means the text your app sends to the Action system for processing.

Actions are sold ala carte, but once you own an Action it will work in any ThoughtCast brand app that has Action compatibility. If you are looking to purchase a specific Action, all of the Actions are on the Actions Store.

It goes without saying that, althought we have done everything in our power to ensure everything works reliably, app developers can change protocols and methods without informing us, causing Actions to break. So, always always test your Actions before performance, and if something does not work properly, email us immediately so we can sort things out and get them fixed.

We have reached out to almost every maker of apps and products that exist asking for their assistance with adding an Action for their app. So, if an app or electronic device exists and you'd like an Action for it to also exist, please contact the maker of that app and tell them to email hello@thoughtcastmagic.com so we can start the process of integrating!

Actions App
Actions App:

With the exception of the ThoughtCast Impression Pad App (where Actions is built in), if you want to use Actions in any other ThoughtCast host app (Calculon, OmniSense, etc), you will need to download, install, and log into the Actions App. It is available here. Once done, check the checkbox of the Action you want to use, then return to your host app to finish the setup.

In the host application instructions, there is usually a short section of how to set up Actions in that specific app, so please review those instructions and return back here to learn about what any specific Action does and how to set them up individually.

Web Search
Send to Web Search:

This will take the actionable text and open Safari, performing a Google Search on that text. This will cause the breadcrumb to appear, so be sure to lock your phone before revealing.

Camera Roll
Send to Camera Roll:

This will take the actionable text and perform a Google Image search, then send that image to your Camera Roll. You have the option to send the image to a specific album name, so make sure the album name matches EXACTLY. If you leave this blank it will send to the general Camera Roll.

Fun tip: If you own the app PPR (Pocket Printer Revolution), you can send your images to the PPR album in your Photos and PPR will automatically grab it and print it.

Shortcut
Send to Shortcut:

This will launch the Shortcuts app and run a specific shortcut as specified in the Action's settings. If your action has the ability to accept text input, this text will be sent to the Shorcut automatically when it is launched.

Custom URL
Send to Custom URL:

This will launch a URL of your choosing. You can also take the URL and modify it by turning on "replace value", then designating the part of the URL to be replaced with "$$$$" (four dollar signs). So, if I have the URL instagram.com/$$$$, and the actionable text is doggy, when the action runs it will launch the URL instagram.com/doggy.

Actions API
Send to Actions API:

Actions now has a simple text-based API that you can, from the Actions App, post text to for use with other API based services. To enable, just check "Send to Actions API" in the Actions app. Then, you can get your API URL by visiting the portal, and it will be listed at the top of the screen as shown in the screenshot below. If you find someone is using your url (which is very very very unlikely) and need to change it, you can tap "reset api token" and this will regenerate your token. You will need to set to the new url on whatever apps and services are using it if you reset the token.

ActionsAPI
If you need to use a specific field for your API enabled app, you can also add a "/json" to the end of your url. This will show the results in a json format, making it potentially easier for your app to read and understand.
Calculon
Send to Calculon:

This will take the actionable text and launch Calculon, adding the text as the active force number, and turning force number mode on. It needs not be said that the text being sent to Calculon must be numbers/digits only, and if any input is sent besides numbers, it will result in an error.

PhoneFabulation
Send to PhoneFabulation:

This will take the actionable text and launch PhoneFabulation, filling in each tag field with the text passed into Actions. Make sure each field is separated with a comma (,) as PhoneFabulation will use the commas to separate each word and put it into the appropriate tag. Also, make sure the words are in the order specified in PhoneFabulation's Performance Mode (you can check this by going to any input method in Performance Mode, the tag order is listed top to bottom.

Notarized
Send to Notarized:

This will take the actionable text and send it to the Notarized app. When the Notarized app opens, it will open Performance Mode and, if the device is connected, it will send the text to it immediately. The text will not be shown on the screen until the spectator's phone running the "Notes" app is screen side down.

Diverter
Send to Diverter:

This will take the actionable text and send it to the Diverter app. Make sure under "Transmit" it is set to "Open API".

DALL-E
Send to DALL-E:

This will take the actionable text and send it to the DALL-E service, which will create an image from the text results. Make sure you register an account with Open AI first, then create a API key and paste this key into the DALL-E settings (by tapping the gear next to DALL-E).

Earworm
Send to Earworm:

This will take the actionable text and send it to the Earworm app, where Earworm will find the first matching song and thump it to your spectator. Make sure you are running Earworm v3.1.2 or later. This also requires the "Pro" upgrade to Earworm.

Flitch
Send to Flitch:

This will take the actionable text and insert it into your Flitch URL, and launch the URL. Be sure to put your Flitch URL into the settings of this Action before performing.

Glyphs
Send to Glyphs:

With Glyphs, you have two options: using the Action toggle in the Action menu, or using the "Send Image to Photos" option. If you use the "Send to Glyphs" option, it will send the text input to the Glyphs app and, using the font you have set up, print that text via your Glyphs printer. If you use the "Send Image to Photos" option, make sure you are in "Observing Mode" in the Glyphs app. Once the image is sent to the camera roll, it will automatically be picked up by Glyphs and printed.

Googe Image to Photo
Google Image to Photo:

When enabled, this will send the input to the Photo Gallery as an image from a Google Image search. Make sure your app supports sending images, and test this first before performing to make sure all the permissions are set correctly. Make sure to run this once before performance to prevent the permission pop up from coming up during performance (once it pops up it will not pop up again until you reinstall Actions)

Hydra
Send to Hydra:

This will take the actionable text and send it to the Hydra app via a web integration. Even though it uses the web, you must have the Hydra app open and set up to perform with the Hydra endpoint. Hydra support requires Upgrade 1/App Integrations Upgrade.

To set up, follow the instructions on page 6 of the link below, but use the following url as the api url:

https://app.ellusionist.com/webapi/hydra-getPeek-api.php?email=youremailgoeshere@youremail.com

Then, once set up, you can perform by selecting Insta Predict or FB Predict, then select the endpoint at the bottom of the list under "App Integrations"...the rest should look familiar if you know how the app works. If not, you can follow the Perform Mode instructions on page 13, just be sure to leave Hydra open on whatever device you are using, which can be another phone or the same one you use for Actions.

Hydra API Setup Instructions.

Image to Photos
Send Image to Photos:

When enabled, this will send the image input to the Photo Gallery. Make sure your app supports sending images, and test this first before performing to make sure all the permissions are set correctly. Make sure to run this once before performance to prevent the permission pop up from coming up during performance (once it pops up it will not pop up again until you reinstall Actions).

Inject
Send to Inject:

This will take the actionable text and thump it to your spectators phone if they have your Inject URL loaded. Make sure to put your Inject ID number in the settings for the Inject Action before performing.

Note - If your Inject ID does not work, you might need to get the "long" version of the inject ID. You can find that id number by going to this site and entering your inject ID code.

Legacy Wallet
Send to Legacy Wallet:

This will take the actionable text and send it to your Legacy Wallet for printing. Make sure your Legacy Wallet is powered on and pair to your phone before performance.

Previson
Send to Prevision:

This will take the actionable text and send it to your Prevision video for processing. Make sure you put your Reveal Code into the settings for this action. If you want to test it, you can enable the backup server by turning on "backup".

Sigaba
Send to Sigaba:

This will take the actionable text and send it to the Sigaba fake notes app, displaying it as a number. Make sure your API key is in the Sigaba Action settings, this key is located in the settings of your Sigaba app. If you run this action and do not see the numbers in the fake notes app, tap on the yellow --> arrow at the top of the screen (the "redo" button) and the text should show on your phone.

Stranger
Send to Stranger:

This will take the actionable text and launch the Stranger app, sending the text to your stranger. Make sure to also go to settings > Revelations General Settings and turn "Reveal Auto Detect" on. This requires a Stranger Pro subscription.

TimeSmith
Send to TimeSmith:

This will take the actionable text and open TimeSmith, sending the time to your connected watch. Make sure your TimeSmith app is activated with your code, and make sure the time does NOT include the colon (this will be fixed in a update soon).

Voila
Send to Voila:

This will take the actionable text and open your Voila app, allowing you to use it with one of the Voila effects (our favorite is the email prediction)...if you want to predict a card, this can be specified in the Voila Action settings (be sure to format the card as NS, so ten of diamonds is formatted as 10D).
